Did you know that London is now ranked as the 3rd most expensive city to live in Europe?
With housing high on the new mayors agenda, it seems fitting to look at the cost of city dwelling. This map reveals the average monthly cost of renting a one-bedroom flat at every stop on the London Underground network.
Hyde Park, somewhat unsurprisingly, comes out top - with average rents totalling £2,920 pcm. If you are looking for something more affordable, Hatton Cross is said to be the cheapest with an average monthly payout of £324.
2016 statistics show that the average monthly rental costs of a 1 bedroom apartment in Manchester City Centre will set you back £705, less than a quarter of the price you'd be paying to stay in a Hyde Park pad. But who can deny London's benefits? Higher wages, the incredible culture, more job opportunities and amazing transport links to name but a few. It appears that for millions of people the lifestyle and opportunities far outweigh the cost.
